CULTURAL HERITAGE AT THE SOUTHERN TIP OF FANØ
Fonden Gamle Sønderho
ABOUT THE FOUNDATION
The foundation “Fonden Gamle Sønderho” aims to actively contribute to the conservation of Fanø's culture and environment, with a focus on preserving the music, dance, costume traditions, and architectural heritage of Sønderho town.
By operating the museums Hannes Hus, Sønderho Mølle, Sønderho Brandmuseum, and Sønderho Gamle Redningsstation, we convey the cultural heritage to both visitors and locals, as well as to children.
Additionally, we have a special responsibility to educate schools and institutions on Fanø about the cultural heritage.
Sønderho Day
Every year on the third Sunday of July, the foundation “Fonden Gamle Sønderho” holds Sønderho Dag. The festival has been celebrated every year since the establishment of the foundation in 1928 with a bridal procession to Møllebanken. On this special day, we showcase the traditional costumes, dances, and music that have been passed down from generation to generation.

Help us make the Foundation's website better
On this website you can find everything about the Foundation's museums, collections and events in 3 languages.
There is also a webshop where you can order and pay for goods sold in Lorenzen's shop. The webshop is initially limited to shipping to addresses in Denmark.
It had been a challenge to translate the many local historical words such as "krøjehjul", "bilæggerovn", "strude", etc. If you have any comments to the content please contact us so we can correct possible errors and misunderstandings. Write to: info@fondengamlesonderho.dk.
Happy reading!
