Sønderho Day
Every year on the third Sunday of July, the foundation “Fonden Gamle Sønderho” arrange Sønderho Dag.
The festival has been celebrated every year since the establishment of the foundation in 1928 with a bridal procession to Møllebanken. On this special day, we showcase the traditional costumes, dances, and music that have been passed down from generation to generation.
Sønderho Day 2025
The next Sønderho Day will be held on Sunday 20th July 2025.
Programme:
There will be a festive church service in Sønderho Church at 11:00, and we hope that many will attend in traditional costume.
We will be tying scarves (putting on headscarves and assembling costumes) in the Forsamlingshuset from 8:30 to 11:30. Please arrive in good time.
At 14:00: Bridal procession at the Børsen – music by Dorte Uhrbrand and Christoffer Thorhage Dam
At 14:30: Welcome at the windmill, prologue and festive speech by Folk High School Principal Rasmus Willing.
Afterwards: Bridal dances, presentation of the costumes, and finally the dance floor will be open to all.
Following the event, the bridal party will dance through the streets.
