Sønderho Day

Every year on the third Sunday of July, the foundation “Fonden Gamle Sønderho” arrange Sønderho Dag.

The festival has been celebrated every year since the establishment of the foundation in 1928 with a bridal procession to Møllebanken. On this special day, we showcase the traditional costumes, dances, and music that have been passed down from generation to generation.

Sønderho Day 2024

The next Sønderho Day will be held on Sunday 21 July 2024.

Program:

There is a celebratory service in Sønderho Church at 11 am, and we hope that a lot of people will show up in costume.
We put rags in the village hall from 8.30-11.30. Arrive in good time.
2 p.m.: Bridal procession at Børsen - music by Dorte Uhrbrand and Christoffer T. Dam
14.30: Welcome at the mill, prologue and celebratory speech by Peter Uhrbrand
Then bridal dances, presentation of the music by Dorte Uhrbrand, presentation of costumes
by Susanne Winsløw and finally there is an open dance floor.
Afterwards, the bride and groom will dance in the streets.
